Default Pointy Fuel Light- Not another how many miles thread

I have a problem with the fuel light on my K4 650. It is the model with the single sensor, not the twin sensors that change between solid and flashing depending on how low the fuel gets.

According to the book of lies, the fuel light on these models shouldnt flash, but come on solidly when the fuel level gets low. On my bike however the light is constantly flashing, even with a full tank of fuel.

I had the pump and sensor unit out this morning, and the wires on this end of things all seem to look ok. Does anyone know why this would flash, does it just mean I need a new sensor or is there something more serious, like an irritating electric or wiring issue. There does not seem to be an adverse effects on the running.

Any help is much appreciated.

Sounds like the sensor is shot. I think if there was a problem with the pump you would have the red FI light come on too.

Someone else might confirm this but sounds like the sensor is kaput

Does anyone know if the 1st spec pointy pump level sensor is a float/trigger level type sensor? if so sounds like its sticking. Ive had the pump out but i dont know if its fixable by being able to remove it and clean it and do some sort of level/trigger test befor refitting. I suspect its integral in the sealed chamber of the pump.
