Hi Guys,
I'm looking to build a custom subframe and just wondered if anyone knew what the recommended tubing would to use. I was thinking 25mm x 25mm x 2mm mild steel square tubing. Would this be strong enough or would you go for a touch thicker? Let me know your thoughts, Ta.. Si |

More than strong enough, the original subframes are built from much lighter material than this. The design of the subframe is just as important as the material; ensure it's triangulated properly so you are only putting the members in compression or tension.

Cheers for the input, the subframe is for a 2003 R1 tail unit to go on a bandit 1200. I was thinking of buying an original and hacking that but then thats a touch expensive unless i can find a cheap one.
