Default medical help .... ruptured ear drum

I have managed to rupture mine and have greatly reduced hearing in one ear. Has anyone had one, how long will it take to mend.

Was bleeding for 4 days but this has stopped, take it that's a good thing.

not sure what the quacks recommend these days but when i did mine years ago (winter time) i kept cotton wool in it for a couple of weeks. I'd leave it out for a few hours each day but only when i was indoors. hope you feel better soon x

Did both of mine about xx years ago - I was very young and now I'm not quite young. As Mavicap says, how bad and see a doc.

Was deaf for a good few weeks, and suffered for several years. Still partly deaf, which comes in handy when the SatNag kicks in.

All in good time Woozle, it'll make its own mind up when to heal.

I know how much my daughter was in pain, so sympathy all round. At least its popped now.

Probably best to keep it from getting wet if you're out & about, but let the air get to it to heal it quicker.

Putting cotton wool in for long periods creates a warm, humid, environment which is ideal for further infection.

Get a bottle of dettol and a wire brush........................................... only joking!!

Plus the ear canal will get full of dried blood which mixed with wax might cause the canal to get bunged up later, which is what has happened to my daughter. But little ones have tiny ear canals, which bung up easier than adult ear canals.

She's got a hospital appointment to have the wax sucked out.

Just don't stick any cotton buds inside, it could make things much worse.

Hugs an kisses, but no tongues this time!

Fresh air dries it out. Put nothing in your ear smaller than your elbow (as my granny used to mutter over the cauldron whilst boiling warts)

Self medicate with strong drink to make yourself rascally drunk.

Get well ASAP.

The daft Woozle is better than the suppurating pustulous Woozle!
