I'm about to service my K5, oil change and brake rebuild. I'd rather buy a load of washers on ebay, than buy them at 50p a pop at a dealer. However I can't tell what sizes to buy. I assumed the front calipers were M10, however the banjos are M12.
Thanks. |

Reuse the sump one by heating it until its cherry red then cool it instantly in water

TBH I'm too lazy and it probably costs more to anneal a washer than buy 10 from ebay!

I've not had a problem reusing them.

I have to admit having reused sump and banjo washers before. But the questions stands - does anyone know what size they are?

If anyone is interested, the brake washers are M10
So I bought these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M10-copper...item2a1910da12 |

Last week I bought a 2006 SK5 with 2,700 miles on it (my third SV!). It hasn't been used for a year, just sat in a garage. In a couple of weeks I am starting a new job where it will be my 400 mile a week commuter bike. I am/have:
-Stripped the front and back brakes and rebuilt them, -Fitted a fender extender, -Fitted a fuel exhaust -New battery -Changed the oil in the forks (and upped them to 15w) -Changed the oil and filter -Changed the coolant -Fitted heated grips -Fitted a scotoiler -Fitted a tank pad -Ordered some ACF-50 -Fitted longer pipes to the throttle bodies vacuum take off so that they can be balanced in future without taking the skin off my hands! and used lots of coppergrease! I may have done more, but can't remember! And am looking for a hugger and a Givi rack. Over the next few months I will take the back apart again and grease the tri-linkage too. By the way coolant drain plug washers are M8.
Oh and you can't anneal the standard washers on a K5, as they're aluminum so just melt. |
