Default Brief misfire at high revs.

every so often at 90 mph or above my bike will suddenly seem to cut out and bump starts itself within about a second, though the other day i got enough time to look down at the dash before the engine started again and noticed the tachometer was showing no revs but the speedo was still running and the odometer was still running showing that there is still a source of current.

I was thinking maybe the crank sensor is on its way out with the fact that the electrics are still on but not showing any revs on the dash, and obviously with the engine at a minimum of 6.5k revs before the engine cuts out for a split second the engine isnt going to come to a complete standstill and i hadnt even had the chance to pull the clutch in before it starts again so obviously the engine is still being turned over by the back wheel.

just wondered if anyone could shed a bit more light over this for me as i dont wanna go throwing loads of money on it to find it was actually just something simple, thanks people

What bike do you have?

First thing to do is check all the connections are securely fitted and making good contact, it could be as simple as high speed vibes causing a momentary loss of contact. Do you have loads of stuff wedged under the seat? I once fixed a curvy SV whose ignition connector had broken because of that exact problem.
