Scorpion end can baffle removal and mpg?

Just been chatting in work about my trip to France on the sv on Thursday and one of my work mates said are you putting the baffle back in, I told him I probably would be doing as 500 miles with that noise will probably be a bit too much, he replied " not only the noise but you will get better mpg with it in".
Is he rit that mpg would be worse with the baffle out ? I'm getting around 140 miles before the light comes on with the baffle out and I thought this was pretty good for a k3 naked.
Anyone know if removing the baffle will reduce mpg or not ?.

Not sure if it would improve but I run a SK6 with a Scorpion. The baffle has never been in (except for the MOT) and I get about 155 miles before the light (not exactly careful with the throttle either).

If the noise bothers you get some earplugs. IMHO they sound rubbish with the baffle in and like aircon in a car, you'd probably only get 1 or 2 extra miles to a tank, so who cares!

The noise does not normally bother me at all, it's just the mileage may make it a bit tiresome and I'm not sure how the French will view it so I'm putting the baffle in just for this trip. Sounds great with it out.

Earplugs...

Can't use ear plugs as I'm taking my son and we have a blue tooth comms kit, I normally just use it for my phone but on this trip it's to chat to my son and for the sat nav when we are in France. Baffle will be out again as soon as I get back, I was only wondering whether it was right about mpg that's all. Petrol is a lot more expensive in France than the uk, but diesel is cheaper which is strange, I always fill up the van in France but I will do the bike in the uk

I don't think there is any difference in mpg. Certainly none that you could measure unless you were doing a very consistent and long trip repeatedly.

I noticed that in spain recently, i was suprised too.

yes i found it strange but the locals in my village say the french are pushing diesel cars like mad and keep the cost of fuel down to encourage. i was over at the house 3 weeks ago in the van and it was £25 cheaper to fill the van with diesel in france than the uk but petrol was around 40 cents per litre more than diesel. glad i get good mpg fromt he sv lol.
