Does anyone know a factual answer to whether bypassing the clutch switch on a K3 actually has any negative effects? I have read several articles, each conflicting the previous one!
If anyone has any more info it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. ![]() |

The only negative effect is that you bypass a safety feature that is there to ensure you've got neutral engaged before you start the engine. If the switch is in good condition then no benefit in removing it.

Is there some fuel map issue when bypassing the switch on the pointy?

dont think so no, you may be thinking of the gear position sensor

It currently doesn't have one you see, seems to work ok without. But have read several threads about it running on a 'neutral' map and lowering rev limiter... If this is true then I'll put a switch somewhere to mimic it... But I won't if it's not necessary.

I stand corrected.... see here http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...76#post2617276
As K3 is a fuel injected bike the switch needs to be present. It appears the power loss will be minimal on a 650 but why bother? Last edited by flymo; 09-06-12 at 12:34 PM. |

Ah! Good find. Thanks. I'll put a small switch on then. As the LH switchgear and connector isn't there anymore I'll splice it into the loom further back... Thanks.

Send Sv650Racer a PM on here or give Sarah or Steve a call at Steve Jordans, they should be able to explain how it works. |

I was planning on putting a switch on the handlebar, using during starting to ground the relay and give signal to ECU, then flick it off when she's all running... So it should be the same as the normal switch?
I'll give them a ring tomorrow, cheers Flymo. |

So why not just fit a standard clutch switch?
