Default Side Stand Chain Tension?

How do you guys go about adjusting the chain tension with only a side stand?

There must be a simple / easier way.

If my friends with stands are not free then i put the bike on the side-stand and put the steering lock on. Then I position a piece of wood under the bobbin on the swing-arm after lifting the rear wheel.

Just adjust it on the sidestand it works fine and is how the manual says to do it.

I put it in gear, roll the bike back to tense up the chain, then tighten the axle.

I like a centre stand on some bikes myself.
Of course out and out sports biks you expect no centre stand but on other bikes it just easier to do everything with a centre stand.
And also saves space when parking at work or bike stands
