Default Water temp warning light- curvy.

I've just noticed that my bike had what appears to be a water temp warning light recessed into the rev counter. Should this light up with the other lights when I turn on the ignition, or just if the coolant temp gets too high? I didn't even notice it was there until today

Only if temperature gets too high.

Thanks. Only asked as it doesn't come on with the others when you turn the key. Hope it never comes on then
