Default Any way to test ignition coils?

I think my rough idle is not down to the carbs after all. I now suspect the coils.

Is there any way to test them without specialist equipment?

Thanks

Other than their resistances, no. As you are no doubt aware, the coils can seem fine when tested so, but this won't tell you anything about how they perform in use.

I know you're joking, and it made me laugh, but please don't tell anyone how that's done
