Default Is it safe to run a pointy with a desnorkel and race can?

Hi guys

I know desnorkel threads come up quite often.

I just wanted to know if anybody has ever had the fueling checked on a dyno to see if its harming the engine.

I have a pipewerx exhaust( no baffle) and desnorkel. My bike feels to run fine and im not worried if ive gained or lost 1bhp. Just dont want to lunch the engine!!

if your willing to part with the cash then getting it remapped is a good idea as then the ECU is mapped to the bike.

i run a K&N, half snorkel and a warrior. all seems fine and dandy but you can bet top dollar that it would be way out if i had it dyno'd.

similar setup here... performance air filter, custom stubby can, snorkel pulled out and raised tank, no real issues my end...

bike getting more air - yes...
sound nicer - yes...
getting more or less HP - no idea...
am I going to do anything about getting it remapped - nope

The mapping the ecm came from factory is set to reach EU regs. Even a standard bike would be smother and more efficient on a custom map.
Modern engines have better tolerance to weak mixtures than old .
Its all down to cost , what you can see (is plug condition exhaust soot oil derogation ) and hear

It deffo needs the mapping sorted to suit i think

I like the sound, but have noticed that if the crack the throttle wide open from low rpm the engine feels a bit flat.. It feels fine and quicker if you open it at say 80%? maybe its getting too much air at once? running lean?

I guessed so!!

personally i cant justify the money for a power commander and set up on a £1500 stop gap commuter bike so it will be going back in.

if i can find a very cheap sv1000 snorkel i will try that, or mayble cut down the standard snorkel
