Default Atempted theft

Went to the bike this morning and noticed that some w*&^ers had tried to nick the bike during the night . Managed to get through the Abus city chain, hadn't touched the disc lock but had tucked the mirrors in as if to lift and put in a van. The alarm must have gone off but I didn't hear it
all I can think off is that they were disturbed.

Full off anger that they tried to nick it and I've had to pay £200 for a better chain, but also very very lucky that the bike was still there as they seemed to have done most of the hard work.

I read recently about how they are now working in gangs with specififc tasks.
1 gang is to rekky the bike, the next to make it ready...another to take it away. They say if you find a chalk mark on your bike be very worried as the rekky team have marked it for the others.

Very lucky escape mate. Is there anywhere else you can keep it for a few days to get them off the scent? Maybe a back garden...a neighbours garage etc??

Good luck.

Right............................I'm ready for sleepless night !!

1 x new chain
2 x disc locks
1 x new cover ( I've already had 2 nicked )
And have checked the alarm to make sure it's still working, they've tampered with it as the led isn't working now but apart from that everything seems to work.

Thor, many thanks for the offer and sorry for taking so long to reply but I think that seeing as they can come back at anytime ,tonight, next week, next month etc all I can do is secure the bike as much as possible and see what happens. Thanks again.

Popped into the local police station to let them know but there's not a great deal they can do but it makes me feel better.

One question though, as there isn't any damage to the bike do I need to inform the insurance company ??

Also have the old chain near the front door encase it's needed

Still a very lucky escape

good luck mate. Its unlikely they'd come back tbh cos they know youre gonna have noticed and done something about it. But thats no consolation for the sleepless night ahead i'm sure.

Scum.... hope whatever they came in crashed and caught fire with them in it. In a fie;ld somewhere so noone else was hurt like.
