Default Oh my good lord, the new R&Gs look bad...

That is all. Pics tomorrow, but these are possibly the ugliest bolt-ons I've ever encountered. Should look OK once the lowers are on. I hope

Agreed. I just hope that they are better than the last ones. I cant really complain as i did get my new set for free, and the redesign, is all donw to me, but not the design itself.

Still, free is the right price

They certainly seem more solid- no obvious design flaws in 'em. The bungs have a metal insert to beef 'em up so I reckon the weakest point is the M10bolt into the main bracket... But I see the thread's steel reinforced so it shouldn't be as weak as, for example, the DHMs. Bungs do need a weak spot to prevent them killing your frame if they catch, anyhow 9also, of course, if they do break off as intended in a real bad crash, you'll still have a little frame protection, and I have to say there's probably no chance that these bungs will cause additional damage to the bike's frame.

Quite confidence insipiring. But then again, the old ones always worked perfectly for me, could not have been more pleased with them.

They stick out almost exactly as far as the old ones, though that'll mean in practice they have marginally less ground clearance part-way up. Also, they're much closer to the knee area, won't bother me but it might bother you. One thing I'm quite pleased with is that as they're further up the bike, the chances of the bike rolling right over them is reduced- mine did this when it got knocked over while parked. The same would have happened with Motosliders or any other similiar bung, just from the position of that main bolt... So I'm quite glad that's no longer the case.

That's right, they have a bracket which bolts to the place used for the old ones at one end, and the wee engine bolt behind it at the other, and the bung sits half way between- probably an inch up and an inch and a half back. Means you don't need to chop your fairings.

I understand the injected ones got a redesign too but I've not seen them yet.

You slack **** But yes, you're right.

http://www.rg-racing.com/crash-prote...e-sliders.html The prices look good till you find out how badly you get gouged on the postage- it works out cheaper in £ to post to the US! Might be worth going to an R&G dealer instead, though then you'd have to be careful not to get old kit.

Hip seems to work OK, thanks for asking, still crutching it for the moment but I'm allowed to put more strain on it and take a few steps without the crutches now, which is nice. Fingers crossed and this time next month I'll be either off them or down to one. So I'm running out of time to do all those big jobs

Kwak, I hope you have more luck with the DHMs than I did It's that spacer between the engine and frame that went on mine, not a happy bunny. But yours might be better- all it would have taken to sort mine was a longer bolt and a stronger spacer. The LHS one worked just fine.
