And just look what happened!
![]() ![]() I'm not the sort to blow my own trumpet, but I have to say, my bike completely rocks ![]() The details for the techie-minded are, SRAD 750 yokes, wheel and axle with K2 forks and clipons, er, and a bodged on antique GSXR mudguard. The SRAD yokes match the lock stops perfectly and a small amount of grinding (of the frame ![]() The difference in handling is unreal... I had the front end reasonably sorted with 15W oil and Ohlins springs but without even spending more than a fe seconds setting these up (centred all the damping, and preload is just how they were when they came) it's light years ahead. More planted, more confortable... The brakes aren't massively better since the SV master cylinder's a bit overwhelmed pushing those 4-pots- more power but less feel I'd say. Big thanks due to 21Quest, whose fault this all is and who gave a lot of help along the way, but also to Burner and to various SV Rider guys- Zoran first and foremost- who helped out along the way. Now bring on the respray![/i]

Hehe, I saw this coming after monitoring the svrider.com forums. Specifically on fork swaps.
Ya sly bugger. Looks good, me wan! Suppose I'm going to have to have a rethink on upstaging the scene now ![]() Have to wait and see mind, as if I'm off to Europe on my year out, i'll probably be selling up ![]() If I'm staying in the UK though, and working with a decent wage, I would like to treat the bike to some trickness... Danno. |

The wheels and sprocket carrier were £100 to get coated in the metallic, and I got the mudguard- which I think is off a GSXR1100 and fits like a really badly made glove- free from him. BBS in Edinburgh, top class. It could be done cheaper- I could have reused the bottom bearing, reused the front tyre (but I think this would have been a bad move handling-wise), and found a dark grey front wheel to match the dark grey rear (or a silver rear to match my GSXR silver fronts) but I wanted to do it right first time. Thing is... I could now sell the SV front end, if I wanted. I reckon with the upgrades I've done to it I could get £350-£450 quite easily, which makes the cost of the front end seem reasonable. Honest ![]() I'm not quite done- I need a real Y-K2 mudguard (probably a Poly 26) and I want a better master cylinder for it... Then maybe taller, wider clipons for comfort and clearance. Plus the bolts are an absolute hodgepodge so I need to sort that out, and I'd like to coat the calipers (curse, should have done that at the same time as the wheels). Always another job to do....
