Seems to be what the guys round here charge. If you do it yourself it comes to about £20 and an hour or so!

It is an oil change, check the plugs, check hoses, check air filter, check brakes, check cable play, and chain. Check bolts and tread depth. Check coolant and brake fluid levels.

Total cost is for oil, sump plug washer and oil disposal (if the council don't have a collection point)

I have never known the plugs to out by 4,000 miles and as they get replaced at 7,500 probably don't need the attention

Most of the checks tend to get covered every time you ride, so should be fine. It's money for old rope. Keep the dosh, log the service and take the hit on the resale value (it knocked £200 off the value of my old bike, but I have saved an awful lot over the 20,000 miles of the bikes life)

no you dont, Suzuki say that the bike has to serviced in accordance to their service schedule, not that the work has to be carried out by a dealer as long as you use offical suzuki service parts and log what/when the work was done. your warrenty is with Suzuki , not the dealer. Manty dealers will try and knock back warrenty work if theyve not done the servieing , but suzuki would have to authorise any warrenty work anyway so if you have probs tell the dealer to call suzuki.

Ditto, you could've done the service (with Suzuki parts) for circa £40 & with non-Suzuki bits for £24.50 (thanks to Hein Gericke's oil & filter deal )

Or you could get this lot from M&P for £29.99 Plus postage http://www.mandp.co.uk/productInfo.aspx?catRef=547500
No air filter though
Mines gets one of these every 4000 miles, including the plugs.

erm suzuki wont honour the warranty if you bike has been home serviced!. It can be done by a none suzuki dealer as long as the person doing the service is trained to do so. If you do it yourself and you have a problem with your engine then no go!. They need to see a copy of the service book now!.

And it also involves a few more things than is mentioned in the schedule - like TPS setup - throttle body balance and a plug in to the SDS software if the dealer has it to clear any fault codes stored in the ECU.

If I put it in for the Suzuki 4,000 mile service and they put in a new oil filter I would be pleased to acept it as a gift. But as it is not on the schedule I would not expect to pay for it, as I would not have asked for it - the schedule does not specify the filter
