Hi guys,
I'm getting some sort of residue on the inside of my visor and I know its not standard fogging because even riding with my visor open doesn't clear it. It has the effect of giving any light sources a fuzzy halo (so cars rear lights look like giant panda ears...) and blurring any detail. I must've looked like a bit of a tit on my way home last night, riding with my nose in the air so I could see through the only clear bit of my visor. ![]() I wipe on an anti-fog spray before I leave in the morning but by the time I leave work in the evening, this smudging has occured (I've now resorted to giving it a wipe over with more anti-fog spray before leaving). What's confusing me is it's a recent thing... a few weeks ago just one application in the morning would do 'til the next day... Any ideas? ![]() |

A residue you say? You haven't got a cold have you???
It's probably colder then a few weeks ago in the morning so you'll get more build up. You could try cleaning the visor thoroughly with a mild liquid hand soap and letting it dry fully before applying the anti-fog stuff. I used anti-fog spray and it worked for a bit then I had the same problem as you. I bought a pinlock insert (fog city are OK too) the only thing that really works for me.

If you ride with your visor about 1 notch open, moisture / rain tends to make its way into your helmet and mist up the inside of your visor if you're riding in damp conditions.
PS Why didn't you just open your visor fully instead of riding with your nose in the air? ![]() |

It simply sounds as though it's not perfectly clean even though you might think it is. What I would do would be to remove the visor, clean in a soapy solution of washing up liquid, and then hard wax the visor on both sides (yes seriously). It will then be super clear, and will resist greatly against fogging. Unfortunately it doesn't last forever, but then neither does any other solution.

Have you been smoking whilst riding with your visor shut?

You could try a breath guard. I've one it works but takes time to get used too!
