So, something solid and heavy's been dropped onto my bike, and the petrol tank is dented.
![]() Thanks in advance, Ali |

Morrisons Supermarket.
![]() Seriously though, a few of the guys on here have (used and) described how to remedy this using FROZEN PEAS & HOT WATER. I'm sure someone will go into detail. It should save you a few quid. Garry ![]() |

![]() ![]() There are several ways to deal with this, but all require skill, care, and attention: 1) remove the paint in the dent, and weld on a special stalk. The stalk is then used to pull the dent out, before being cut off, and finished to a smooth surface. 2) remove the paint, fill the dent, sand, prime, paint, polish. Probably the easiest solution. 3) fill the tank with air, and the pressure can be used to push the dent out. Not sure how reliable this is, and I've heard mention that you're more likely to split the tank. Otherwise, you could always keep your eye out for a new tank... but they're like £400+ from the robbers at Suzuki. Or, you could just live with it ![]() Quote:
![]() Right.... not heard of this myself, and it sounds a bit far fetched. My search didn't return anything remotely useful.

No mention of it actually working though
![]() If it were me (and I also have a dented tank), I'd hide it with filler, and paint; or have it pulled out. As it happens, I lived with it for a year or more, but have a tank that's now ready for painting ![]() Of course, that doesn't help Alison... however, I don't think there's an easy solution to your problem ![]()

I don't really wanna buy another tank, I think that'll be too expensive. I'll probably just live with it until my knees have rubbed a bit more of the paint away
