Hi peeps I need some advice and quick as im looking at tarting the bike up (K5) and was looking at an Ermax undertray (black) for about £120 squid, does anyone have any opinions on this and can any one tell me if it would be easy to replace the indicators should they die? Also if you know some where that does it cheaper then please let me know!!!

Ward,
I've got an Ermax tray - the "K5" version, that is waiting to go on to the bike (once painted). This is a considerably superior product to any undertray that Ermax have supplied before, and I'm really very impressed. I'm certain that it will also fit other pointy models, despite it's "K5" name. This one, unlike the previous versions, actually attaches to the subframe, which will hopefully stop it disintegrating like the last one. Now, I've not actually fitted mine yet, but it looks like an excellent replacement, and if you can get a painted one for that money, you'll be very happy I'm sure. Don't forget you'll need to buy (and drill holes for) a number plate bracket, and something to accomodate your indicators.

I've just checked out the Rumble Imports page.
They are showing this as the 2003-2005 SV undertray: ![]() It isn't. That's the K3/4 one. The K5 one, does not have the problematic bit of plastic that goes between the brake lights - it uses your existing bodywork instead. If you get sold this version as "K5" send it back, and go and talk to Ermax instead. See the images here to see what'll happen: http://www.feelthecheese.com/billy/ErmaxUndertray/

that one's actually been around since the k3 - altho i'd imagine it would fit a k5 too. It's available with built in indicators or without.
Main drawback is that those indicators are about 7" apart - meaning even with a 7x5" plate they are slightly obscured. So you need either a bracket to hang the number plate lower, or some extra indicators. Having said all this, i didn't get mine from new so its possible a bracket is supplied.

I have the ermax undertray with the built-in indies on my k5.
You'll probably want this one which is different to the k3/4 version, for the reasons listed on the ermax site: http://www.ermaxuk.co.uk/pages2/dbc....52&bikecode=10 Sadly I can't comment on fitting as the dealer did it for me as part of the deal when i got the bike. Also, I'd personally go for the one without the indicators and just mount some mini-indies on a number plate bracket - i've been told by people (namely Stretchie who has just started frequenting this forum) following me that the built-in indies are very hard to notice from behind. I'm thinking of changing mine as soon as I have the necessary cash to do so... |

The did however change between the K3 and K4. Now, the K3 undertray fits the K4... and the K4 is the same as the K5. So, by powers elimination, the K5 undertray must fit the K4, and consequently the K3! Trust me, the reason the design was changed was because the original K3 version was awful, and destructive. I could take and post images of my old tray, and the new one waiting to go on... but I don't have a camera here at the moment.

LOL glad someone knows what they're talking about, i was taking Ermax at their word from the desription on the website. I assumed the k5 would fit k3/4, but wasnt sure if the reverse was true - now i know.
![]() Billy, am i right in thinking you've bought the version without the indicators? If so, can you post here when you've fitted it, i'm interested to see how it looks with a normal num' plate bracket & indicators, compared to mine with the built-in indies... Cheers |
