Yesterday the engine decided to completely die whillst I was overtaking a car. After a bit of head scratching I figured that the ignition fuse had blown. Swapped for the spare but that blew as soon as a pressed the starter button. Sprayed WD40 over every wire I could see as the bike had been outside in the rain all day and stuck another fuse in and hey presto it fires up. Did another 50 or so miles and then it blows another two fuses again. Would I be right in thinking that water is shorting it somewhere? Or is it something more serious?
Plus any ideas of how to get the rear seat off if the cable has snapped or come loose from the lock mechanism? Only found it out when I needed the tools from under the seat ![]() |

Do a search for 'chafing'.
A known problem on curvies, leading to exactly the sort of troubles you are experiencing.
