Default Headlamb Bulb

Hi,

I am thinking of changing my headlight bulb from the standard to either Osram Cool Blue or Phillips Blue for my K5 SV650 naked. are they worth the money? they have been stated on various websites that they are road-legal has anybody who used them got hassle from PC plod?

Cheers
Mark

The bottom line is, you can't have anything but white or yellow light visible to the front. And I believe displaying blue light anywhere, anyhow is a seperate offence. But it's not as simple as that when you get down to "is this blue? Bluish white?"

Just done some quick searches, and the packaging doesn't seem to have any e-marking on, which I'm sure my Silverstars did. One thing which may or may not be of importance to you is that they have a lower light output than the Silverstars or equivalent Phillips ones. But then, both claim that the white-blue light is better for depth perception.

According to

http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/

the Cool Blues are E approved, but other than that I'm with Northwind.

Depends a bit what bulbs you have in at present, the stock bulb might well be a 45/45W H4, in which case any 60/55W will be better, but I'd plump for Osram SilverStars or Phillips Vision Plus if you want the best light (unless you want to spend more on PIAA).

I dont know whether the naked is the same, My old SVS was fitted with 45 / 45 watt H4 so I changed them to 60 / 55 Halfords Laser Blue. Not a real vivid blue light though and no problems with the wiring

100% improvement

The nakeds have 60/55w as standard.

Will a Morris 1000 sealed beam unit fit then? :P

Nowt wrong with the A40 headlamps, you obviously weren't trimming the wick frequently and were using an inferior brand of whale oil.
