Default What's the "Best" Introduction to litre bike power

What's the most welcoming litre bike for newcomers to these altogether higher powered bikes?
What I mean is which big engine bike doles out it's large reserves of power in a very meterable manner, has benign handling yet strong road holding and doesn't weigh a ton more than the SV650? I'm asking as I'm curious to know just what bike might represent a chunk more of everything than the SV yet wouldn't scare the pants of me on those, limited, occasions I'd get to exercise it. Call it research on a next buy.
Note this is in no way a put down of the SV, it's a great bike despite being made of many genuine rust-o-rama bits n bobs!, but sometimes we just want to change to see what else is out there.

Ooops sorry, my bad. Using Firefox here, popup blocker worked. I'll try to edit just for the pic, or remove it completely. Thx for the heads up.

How long have you been riding and what are you after ?

I didnt buy a litre bike. I bought a GSXR-750. Its completely different animal to the SV.

Why is it better ?

It has more power
It handles better
It stops better
I prefer the riding position.

Its very easy to ride slowly i.e at legal speeds. You can just ride the wave of torque and midrange and at those speeds I actually find it easier and less stressful to ride than the SV is.

I can see though that it might lull me into a false sense of security also its easy to go fast on it and the speed is deceptive as it doesnt feel fast to ride the way the SV does when you are pressing on.

I imagine that a GSXR-1000, 10R, R1 or a blade are going to offer a similar experience. But I dont know because I havent ever ridden one.

Look Dave, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.
