hi, got a bit of a dilemma.
the spark plugs for my bike, are very expensive, 25 quid each. (9a-9h) for some reason, the 01 bikes use a different spark plug to the 00 and 02,03 model CBR's - yet they are the same engine. the dealers that i have spoke to said the 02 spark plugs are cheaper, (9c-9h) and they cant see the difference, but they dont want to recommend me to get them for my bike (wink wink) as it doesnt list them in the manual. what would happen if i was to use the wrong spark plugs in my engine ? |

Look here on tech info on spark plugs and how to read the plug code.
It does not mention the diff between 9H,9C etc, just says special. http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/pages/t..._technical.htm

also, the plugs come standard with a .9mm gap.
in my manual, it says the electrode gap should be .8 to a .9 gap. am i best to set the gap to .8 to allow for wear ? |

I wouldn't have thought plug electrodes would wear by any significant ammount in a healthy engine, so as long as the gaps are in tollerence I'd be happy.
Not sure what the CBR engine differences were by year (or which CBR you've got) but I'd generally stick with what the manufacturers recomend, they don't tend to up their costs for no reason at all.

£25 for a frikking spark plug..Holy sh!! Id want them to last forever at that price.
As for the gap. Leave them at the .9 gap, and adjust as they wear. I know that its not a huge ammount, but its set at that. |
