Hi all,
I’ve bought my SV 650 S (2003) two days ago and it seems that it should have major service at 14,500 (which is due now). I’m new in London (and England) and could use some advice. Which service would you recommend (possibly around Shepered’s Bush) and what I can expect to pay? Is it chipper to buy parts on my own and let them do the rest? The service includes: tappet clearance regulation, change of sparks, oil and other minor things. I’ve also have to change brake pads, and chain soon; any recommendation (brand, model)? Thanks in advance. Patryk <<Back>> :P ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You bought it 2 days ago and it already needs a service? Couldn't you get the vendor to throw it in for you?
Personally I would get the 14,500 full service done. I have never known anyone say the tappet clearance was out at 14,500 miles - infact I have known them last to 50,000 before being out! Sparks, oil, filters etc are too easy to do - do them yourself! Chain and sprocket - I dunno - get a Scotoiler on it and you do not need to worry either! |

That helps, thank you auldyin. Where the bits (oil, filter, etc..) included in the price?
For the same service (including parts) suzuki service close to king's cross wants £220!! |

I got away with doing one tappet at 20,000 miles, but the remaining 7 were fairly close to their tollerance - especially the exhaust side ones. If I ever have the engine out then I would do the lot. Get them checked - that's something you can do yourself. If it really was "one careful owner" then you'll probably be okay.
