just a quick 1 to those of you who know excel quite well, i am making a small program using excel, its not hightec at all, mostly information pages, with macros linked to buttons to change between pages so it is not to much to look at in one go, i have also decided to save the excel file on the network drive and then link to it using Internet explorer so that it looks a little neater and more professional, now what i can remember it how you make it so the buttons work in the explorer mode, i know it can be done as i did it for my a level project, but i cant for the life of me remember how to do it, any help would get appreciated,
apologies if this makes no sense to any1!!! |

Urgh - sounds ugly as hell.
But hey have to admit at having kludged worse together in the past myself ![]() I dont really know exactly what you are trying to achieve, but sounds almost like you are using excel to design web-pages - I could be totally wrong as I have never had the cause (or even knew it was possible) to put excel sheets on the web. When you say page are you talking about in a workbook or as a webpage? David |

no no sorry that's my bad, basically if you type things into excel, put in pictures etc you can then go to file at the top on click on "Web page preview" this will then let you view all the details that you have placed in excel into Internet explorer, effectively you can create a web page, but it would not be uploaded onto the net, it would only be accessible by people at work on the network,
you would not type in www.???????.com to access it it would be more like C:\Documents and Settings\Dave\Local Settings\Temp\Excel\training.htm, so it is locating a directory on a local drive, it is not much of a looker, there is no fancy flash or anything but for a simple training package for all new starters here it will look not to bad and its a way for them to start to learn our system and product types without having to sit down with me and get board to def as i jabber on about a load of crap, this way they can learn a bit more hands on!!! any way i am jibbing on now!! its not a web page as such just a excel spreadsheet within Internet explorer, if no1 knows what i am talking about then it doesn't matter to much i will just lock down excel and make it more of a stand alone program!! i will be able to do it one way or another, its just this way would be the quickest and easiest!! |

you have to save the documents under 'save as' to .htm documents, then when you create the link, make the link under the filer directory eg. C:\Documents and Settings\Dave\Local Settings\Temp\Excel\training.htm
is that any help? |
