sticking wheels/brakes - SV650.org

hi, I've got a slight problem with my sv650s k3. If I try to push the bike if feels like the wheels are sticking which makes it quite hard to push, you can kind of hear a scraping sound from the front wheel and a squeaking sound from the rear wheel. It's like the brakes are slightly stuck on or something. It might just need something cleaning or adjusting or maybe it's something more serious. Anyone know what the problem might be and is it something that I can do myself or do I have to take it to a garage to be fixed? The bike seems fine when I'm actually riding it. cheers.

The calipers get crudded up over time.Normally cleaning is enough to sort it,but you need to unbolt the front calipers from the forks,and clean the pistons with brake cleaner.It's easier to do if you take the pads out both for access and to avoid getting stuff on the friction surfaces.It can be helpful to lube the sliders that the caliper moves in and out on too,the bits under the small rubber boots.I find I need to clean the calipers fairly often at this time of year.

I had this recently on my Curvey.

Wip the pads out and slowly pump the front brake lever. My issue was that the outer dust seal had started to come out.

I toook the opportunity to replace both seals, remove the pistons, give them a good clean up and put them back in. Work absolutly fine now.

Probably the seals tbh.

Until i done it, pushing the bike forward and back was a nightmare, used a lot more fuel (due to binding) and can't be doign the motor any good. Something you should look into sooner rather than later
