![]() ![]() http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=84979 in follow up to the above linked thread...so after another 30 miles or so, this time in the afternoon (so sunny, dry, warm rather than wet, dark, cold!) i seem to have got back most of my slow speed control. Another 80 miles getting the bike back to london today and i think i'm ready for the commute tomorrow! (woo) i guess you never forget how to ride a bike... ![]() ![]() |

i find after the winter lay off my skills are a tad rusty, this is why its good to ride all year round i surpose.

yeah having so long off really took it's toll. will have to rectify that this year!
the way i see it is that even if you ride all year round, people come off more in winter (judging by number of "i've come off" posts here) - thereby justifying somewhat the fair weather bikers' choice! so i think a cheap bike for the winter might be in order - if i'm going to come off, i'll do it on the bike that will cost the least to fix, haha. i realise that it's not just the bike that can get damaged, but seeing as i commute in london which is all pretty slow speed, i think i can justify that logic. |

I had to park mine up for about 5 months a couple of years ago, and I could barely ride it afterwards. No fun at all. This weekend was the scottish bike show, and you could see people all over the place who clearly hadn't ridden for ages. Either that, or they're always useless, but I saw more bad riding in an hour than I have in 4 months.

I always think this; if I ride everyday for a year, I should get to a standard where I'm as good as, or better than, my dad; he's had a lisence for 30+ years, but is a dry weather biker only......
