Default Filled her up with petrol and now it won't start!!!

K3 SV650S won't start at all after filling up at the petrol station.
Started fine first thing this morning, got to the petrol station no probs which is less than 5 mins away. Fills her up, pays, gets back on the bike and nothing!!!
No lights on dash at all, no noises

Wigggles key in the ignition thinking it may be something to do with that and nothing.
Flicked kill switch, but even this would have had some lights on the dash.
So had to push her back home. Was sweating like a punter in a brothel by t he time i got her home
Tried wd40 in the ignition barrel but still nothing, so had to use the car to get to work.

Anyways, when I get back home tonight I'm going to check out for a dodgy earth conection on the battery, main fuse blown, faulty ignition switch(?).
Is there anything else you think i should look out for

Does the key turn in the lock

If not sounds like what I had last week (search for Ignition Woes)

The AA aproved fix is listed in that thread - but it involves percussive maintainence.

SK wish it had been so simple as place key in ignition and hit the top of the key with your hand.
But the key turns in the lock to all positions from 'on' to the 'lock' and the 'park light' positions.

You should check your main fuse.

Sorry but when I read this I couldn't help picturing you pushing home someone else's identical bike, would explain why the key didn't work

Have no idea what the problem is though but hope you sort it soon.

Yep, sounds like a total power failure, which would mean either a massive break in teh loom or the main fuses out, I think. You ought to hear the fuel rail priming otherwise. But there could be other tricks the newer bikes that I don't know about to be honest...

Checked the main fuse and its okay.
Battery 13v and connections is okay.

Which makes me think it is the ignition switch! right or wrong
Is there away of disconnecting the igition cable from the main harness undeneathe the airbox and shorting out some wires and if so which wires?.

Check the clutch interlock plug under the switch on the left bar- these come off very easily and prevent starting. Happens everytime I trailer the bike, just started pulling it off when I put on the straps.

That shouldn't stop the other stuff though- fuel rail pressurising, lights on dash etc.

She's working yee ha \/

Tried to start the bike this morning in the hope that the magic fairies had fixed it, but no joy. Checked and pushed connectors together near where the petrol tank is hinged, ditto where the ignition cable conets to the loom and put the ignition switch to on position and hey presto the dash lit up as normal. Put air box back on and it started first time, left it to idle for a while and then swithed it off on off on off on, worked straight away on each occasion.
Now need to go out for a run and hope its not an intermittent fault.
I'm a happy bunny at the minute though
