Default fuel tubing as replacement brake tubing?

not the pressurized bit, I hasten to add, just the bit between fluid reservoir & master cylinder. would it work or would the brake fluid do unpleassant things to it?

Get a piece of it, leave it sitting in brake fluid for a week, then take it out and see what its like? Its very possibly the same material but I dont know.

Don't know if this'll help but it looks like PTFE (if that's what it is) hoses can both be used for fuel and oil.

thanks for the offer, but I think actual brake line'd be too stiff to make the bend between the reservoir & the master cylinder

Conventional brake fluid is Polyalkalene Glycol Ether according to http://www.apracing.com/motorcycle/fluid/index.htm

I can't find this (or similar description) listed in rubber resistance tables like http://www.baxterrubber.com/resistance-pg1.html
(unless it comes under the general grouping of "glycols")
but having said that, the sort of rubbers usually used for gasoline fuels generally have quite good resistance to most "non aggressive" liquids, so I'd guess you'll be OK.

Just a point, I've got an HRC pipe on my rear brake. No need for a reservoir just the fluid in the pipe. Obviously it has a cap on the end to seal it. Need to keep an eye on it for a road bike, but if for racing it'd be fine. Sure you could do the same for the front brakes.
