I was about to comment that the person who had invented those had obviously not spent any time on crutches - the last thing you want is some counterbalance pulling you off course - when I noticed that those look like the old underarm crutches which I was led to believe had been dropped by the NHS in favour of the elbow crutches.

you are certainly correct there Mr Toad - the discerning crippo will note the archaic 'armpit killers' in the photo. Besides, one can get up much more speed on elbow crutches.

Rucksacks are good, but for those short trips between kitchen and sofa - combat trousers, with their spacious and plentiful pockets, are a boon to survival.

Likewise, other people to do the donkey work when in Tescos are nice - but can detract from the fun of squealing round the store using one of their conventient little electric trolley things.
Amazingly tight turning circle and allow you to cut up chavsprogs in prams with gleeful abandon.
