Insert DVD into one drive, insert blank DVD into other drive. Go through the menu options in something like Nero Burning Rom to copy the disc, and hit the Record button. Job jobbed.

BTW, copying is allowed, so long as you own the original, and are copying SOLELY for your own backup purposes.

I think you'll find a caveat in the law for digital media. For example, if you buy a CD, you're legally allowed to keep that as your "backup" copy, and transfer the contents into MP3s for use in your MP3 player. The specific caveat about backups being that only one copy is in use at any given time.

If you want to get picky, recording the radio onto cassettes has always been illegal. Just as making your own mix tapes up always has been. Has anyone been prosecuted for it ever? Not that I've heard of.

EDIT: Hovis, it's much much easier if you have a 2 DVD drives, at least one of which can write. Oh, and to save pedants like sarah getting on your case, I presume this is a DVD containing a slideshow of photo's of your family, made by another member of your family. Thereby it's not subject to copyright legislation...

Well, there wasn't one when i got my diploma in intellectual property!

The Gowers' review (last year) included the suggestion that it should be made legal to copy CDs to music players or computers, it isn't legal yet though!

In that case, plod should go knocking on every door in the country. Do you have a computer? Oh you do? Then I'm seizing it under suspicion of copyright infringement, etc etc etc.

Easier target than bikers.
