Default panniers to buy, but high level exhaust...

Ok boys and girls I have to go and buy some panniers for the AR and my trip to France. Usually my gear is in with the blokes, or, on Suzy, but i want to show off the black one that I purchased recently. I have to get some that are going to fit right and fit a fair bit of stuff in them. Typical woman takes the kitchen sink on such trips. Heres the object of many a headscratching moment
and heres Suzy to show comparison, she feels a bit left out at the moment and she'll sulk if i don't show her off too

Hmmm high level exhaust + panniers = disaster. Try a tail pack and tank bag, also try taking as little as possible!!!!

Tailpack and tankbag and take less stuff with you.

I got clothes for two people for 1 week into a tailpack and even then we took stuff with us we didnt need.

When we went to the AR last year, I took clothes for two people for a weekend plus a tent, sleeping bags etc etc. All of it went on my bike into a tagbag and tailpack.

My tailpack capacity is 42litres, I think the tankbag is 36 litres when expanded.

IMHO you're never going to get panniers that will work with a highlevel exhaust. I wouldnt advocate riding with 1 panier only, it'll make the bike handle really strangely I'd think.

Failing that why not take the low level can off your other SV and put it on the black SV. Then you'll have no problems with panniers IMHO.

The exhaust on Suzy is an art can and she was dyno'd for it.
I'm not sure what bearing that might have,
also the Scorpion can thats on the black one had to be modified to fit as it was too long. The art can is the same so I don't think it would be viable. Unfortunately I don't want to butcher Suzy's mouthpiece as she has a very deeeeeeep loud growl.
Was looking at some Oxford humpback ones that claim they were designed wih highlevel in mind
hmmmm not considered tailpack cause thought they couldn't hold a lot...do have a lot of alcofrol to carry in both cases Can only buy PIneau in France!!!

If the art can is just a slipon then I'd wager the art can if its just a slipon will run OK on the black SV. If you take the link pipe and the can across on to the black bike, the fit will be the same as it is on the Yellow one. If you dont have the can hangers etc take them of the yellow bike to. That way you'll have extra bungee points to.

Failing that if you're that worried refit the standard exhaust if you have one on the black bike.

Whats more important that your luggage fits properly or that you bike sounds nice.

You can get alot of stuff into the Oxford Sports Tailpack thats what I have and theres a lot of space.

Oxford Sport Humpback panniers is what you need young lady . They are smaller than standard Oxford sports being designed for upswept exhausts. They just stay clear of my Renegade hi-levels. If you want to take a lot of stuff, then you will need a tail pack or tank bag too.

My plan was clothes in panniers, tent/sleeping bag/therma-rest strapped accross seat and paniers, tank bag for odds and ends.

thems the ones i looked at but was unsure if they'd get rather scorched...s'pose it depends on how high your pipe is. Have to investigate further.. tailbags always appear as though they're gonna topple off the back...along with precious cargo!!!
