If you had a Punto you would be needing a new fuel pump cos running out of fuel wrecks them!

With carbs...yes I would say a bit of muck has found its way in....what is the fuel filter for I ask you?? They don't filter jack-s*it!! Might filter out a dead mouse or tea leaves...maybe?

Could be a dead mouse!

Try draining the carbs a couple of times to get rid of any gunk - hopefully you won't need to take em off. I'm always amazed when I drain a fuel tank and take a look inside how much crap has ended up in there.

The option I used to use on my old VW beetle would be to run it with the air filter off, rev it a bit then stick my hand over the throttle air intake, sucking through whatever crud was stuck in the jets. Not sure if this is the correct thing to do or if it is easy to do on a blade, but it worked on the old dub.

You need to remove your hand before the engine dies ideally

Tyres? Pressures, wear, etc. - sometimes after something goes wrong you spot new things that aren't right with the bike and attribute them to the thing that went wrong when really you've just become more aware of the how the bike feels while looking for anything that doesn't feel right.

Can't comment on the carbs thing as I have beautiful FI bike

Yeah, I just hope it'd get burnt enough and chucked out the other side! Still, after rolling the car the motor was still in good shape and got sold on, not bad for a 35 hp 1192 cc flat four, it'd do 68 flat out in 3rd and 72 in fourth, wish I hadn't rolled her......
