Ok, had something posted to me first class last Friday, it is now the following Friday. I know that there has been a strike in the meantime, but surely it should be here now??? … plenty of bills/statements have made their way through the post to me, so its not like there is no ‘flow’ …
![]() So my first concern is will it ever get here? Secondly when?? And thirdly bearing in mind I paid best part of £7 for it to be shipped first class (usually next day, worst case 2 days), can I claim compensation for massive delay? That is presuming it will eventually get here … I paid for first class service … it hasn’t happened … Somebody should pay – even if it is just that they can’t control their staff … why should I loose out??? ![]() … bring back the electric chair I say … ![]() |

Could be worse bud...
Where I work , the job I do rely's on Royal Mail lorrys dropping certain items off. If no items arrive theres nothing I can do with them lol... hence I had today off. And probably best part of next week off aswell... Work refusing to pay the wages since its not their fault specificly, which I guess I understand. But someone should pay... |

You'll get it. Just wait a bit more.
RM policy is to wait 3wks (i think) before you can claim an item is lost. Even without strike action. Also there are unofficial strikes going on still, so maybe it's caught up somewhere. Basically it depends where it's going from/to. Sorry, no good news mate. ![]() |

I did get one parcel, sent royal mail special delivery. However it took over a week to get here and it was meant to be guaranteed next day! Nice footprints all over it as well. Its getting to the stage where Royal Mail should be binned. At the best of times its not fit for purpose, but its really taking the **** now. Whatever internal problems you have, i dont really care! |

Consequently Blue i hope your parcel wasn't too valuable. I always send stuff special delivery or at worst recorded, to ensure it gets to its destination.

Strewth, are you sure they're not (your work that is) taking the ****? They wouldn't be the first to pull a fast one on their workers and blame someone else.

I think you will find that employers can do more or less what they like as long as they follow a few basic rules to avoid legal pitfalls.
Interestingly next week's RM strike has been declared illegal in the High Court today on a technicality. Most employment law is stacked very heavily in favour of employers which is actually why there is a postal strike in the first place--The employers have got so arrogant they believe they can bludgeon their workers into submission.Time will tell, they may be right.

same here, i have ordered SS braided lines from Hel on tuesday, normally shipped next day, no sign yet. this strike action is causing big problems.
and on tuesday i sent two parcels first class neither person has got them yet. But i did have the forsight to send them recorded so i can track them and claim if they go missing! |

I say sack (or shoot - don't mind which
![]() I agree with ASM, shut down royal mail and let someone else take over ... I suggest we shoot all the rebellious RM strikers right now ... and then fill their places with our over run of immigrants .. that way it kills two birds with one stone, gets rid of the current RM rebels and gets all the immigrants 'on the books' and contributing ![]() I should be king ![]() ![]() |
