I was looking at the arguement of it not being safe to stop - temporary bad road surface due to diesel etc - embelish with a locked wheel/slide that took you over the lines - based on whether the photos show that or not....

You'd probably need a signed witness statement from a judge to back it up before the government sponsored theives drop it.

Arguments such as road surface conditions etc will only be heard in court if you decide to ellect for an appearance in front of the beak. The ticket office are only interested in one thing, NUMBERS; the number of motorists dealt with in each calender month. They get a "tick" for the issue of the sec 172 notice and beyond that, don't care. They don't have the authority to hear arguments and waive a ticket.
Oh, Flamin Squirrel, couldn't agree more, leave the Policing of the roads up to the Cops!

One thing to check when you do get the pic, make sure you are the only vehicle in it and there isn't part of a cage following you

As an aside, I worked in Austria for a while and there the traffic lights flash the green a couple of times before changing to amber then red.
Now you may say what's the difference between flashing green and amber. How often as you are approaching green light do you think ''if it goes to amber will I stop?''. The flashing green makes this easy, if it isn't flashing at your decision point you won't need to make the decision because the amber will at the very least get you through the lights at normal speed, if you see it flash then you have time to stop within the amber. I suspect the flash time depends on the speed limit of the particular road. It works, believe me.

These cameras used to have a bit of leeway built into them so they only went off if you jumped the light by a fair bit.Similarly speed cameras used to be set a fair bit over the linit so as to only do those who were well over. This policy may have changed.Mrs B recently got done for 46 MPH in a 40 by a camera. This in one of those 40 limits that now extend well out into the country for no apparent reason.
The government is short on its tax revenues these days,so be aware that this kind of easy money raising will become more common.

Online highway code states, 'Amber means 'Stop' at the stop line. You may go on only if the AMBER appears after you have crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to pull up might cause an accident'
Good luck. |

Yeah right, nothing like a blatant lie to try and overcome the truth and justice. You may not like camera enforcement, lets face it, you would be in a minority if you did, but lets keep things in perspective here. By all means examine the evidence, question the accuracy and operation, and even argue over the merits of such prosecutions, but lets at least have the dignity to face up to our mistakes and take it on the chin if you broke the law. Hiding behind a lie is just pathetic.
