My understsanding is that the Fiamm Freeway Blaster is a direct plug-in, but only the single.
By that I mean that they sell it as a dual-tone horn (high and low tones), but that's by using two horn units wired together, and you have to rewire the horn leads and add a resisitor or relay or some such to the bike to get that set-up to work, plus you need to find a way to mount two horns where one used to be. If you buy just one of the horn units (they sell them individually), buy the low tone. It's about 108 dB, IIRC -- louder than stock, but not as loud as the Stebel, which is like a freight train but much more complicated to install. Using the dual-tone Fiamm set-up actually isn't that much louder than the single low-tone Fiamm, but it is supposed to be more noticeable (something about the high+low tones and psychoacoustics) -- but you said you wanted easy. ![]() You can order from the aerostich catalog and other places. |

if you want a quick fix until you replace it , try tightening the bolt in the center of the horn ... it gets loose w/ the time ...

...and bend it away from the radiator as it stops working when it gets hot.

I've just secured a Stebel Nautilus, should be here in a couple of days. I'm thinking of mounting it behind the front bikini fairing somewhere. Anyone got clever hiding places for these horns they would care to share??

If so - maybe use the indicator bolt as a mount point - maybe try and line up with the "airflow" holes in the lower fairing?

No chance of fitting at the indicator bolt, the unit is too big. I split the compressor from the horn and i'm still struggling to find somewhere to mount the horn.
I've mounted the compressor in front of the airbox for now but i think the horn will have to go down the nearside next to the cylinder head. Need to make a fitting for the compressor hose. Not as simple as i hoped! |
