In Bigape style -

My winter hack: Helga the SV650S

Price paid: ?600.

Time owned: over 2 years

Expense for breakdowns: Signal generator - ? free aquired when I fixed a PC.

Replacement worn out parts: Chain and sprokets/tyres, all the normal stuff.

Fuel costs: ?14 will get me around 140-150 miles.

Insurance costs: under ?200 fully comp (9 points too) and with Jax covered as extra rider.

Dropped once: Ped jumped out in front of me on a wet road, bent foot brake and another scratch on the mushroom and handguards.

And its a SV!

Right,
Are you sure you can't make mooney out of seeing the ST order through to the end (with or without discount) if you end up with one at the start of summer when peoople want to buy & find a 6 mth wait list at their dealer = quids in!

The hack - you have seen this http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=105521 right?
?2K sounds like an awful lot - plus I agree (with ASM) the Hornet is not that precious, may as well enjoy(ish) 65 miles a day.

Offroader - curses you'll be getting me at it next

Ooh, wow. I just went to the gym, come back and got 14 replies.

Righto. I see where you are coming from ASM but I think the Hornet will start looking really shabby after another winter. My logic is to get a bike that will just eat miles and be cheap to maintain. I do all servicing myself bar brakes and valve clearances. I only used AMS last time as it was so cheap to get it all done by them. Anyhoo, thank to the legend known as Mr Ape I'm now on the lookout for a Dullesville. I bet kneedowns are possible on them!

It is NEVER a dull moment with me. I can change my mind 6 times before I've even realised what it is I wanted in the first place.

Thanks for all you rreplies. what this space.

If I can still get an ST with discount it would not be via a dealer anyway but from Triumph direct. I even have Mr Bloors number (as we're installing a network for him). So the money making situation is still there. There is also the choice to buy a crash damaged one but not sure about that yet.
