Just to make sure, we ARE talking about the 2 caliper mounting bolts aren't we? does anyone know their size?

There is only 1 mounting bolt on the rear caliper on a pointy. I can check the size once we've confirmed exactly which bolts you are asking about.

I've attached a photo, these are what looks like them, no.1 definitely is, and no.2 looks like it attaches the caliper too. any help you can give would be much appreciated

Ok, No:1 in your photo is the bolt that fastens the caliper to the mounting bracket. No:2 isnt a conventional bolt as such, it screws into the caliper but the other end of it is smooth (where you would expect there to be a thread). The smooth section slips into the caliper bracket in a rubber boot that normally contains grease. The entire caliper is able to slide back and forth on grease.

So, No:1 can be sourced anywhere, either as a genuine replacement part from Suzuki or as a stainless one from Probolt etc. No:2 is a Suzuki only I'm afraid unless you can find somewhere that makes them in stainless, but thats unlikely.

Thanks Flymo! any idea on the size of the mounting bolt? and whether a steel replacement would react with the aluminium mount?

I'll check the size, need to be careful though, dont just replace it with any old stainless bolt. It needs to be high tensile due to the stresses it can be placed under.

Evening all.

Number 1 bolt has a standard M8 x 1.25mm thread, & is around 45mm long.
As said it is a stressed component, & should be replaced with either a standard bolt, or a stainless bolt of a suitable grade.

Number 2 bolt/slider pin has a 12 x 1.25mm thread & is indeed only available as an original part. A similar caliper was used on 1990's CBR600's & I'm pretty certain that the bolt is the same. So if you're stuck for one a Honda dealer may be able to help.

Cheers.

Refer to post 2

Although most dealers whether it be Honda or Suzuki are very unlikely to keep it in stock, but it only norm takes a day to be ordered
