I had one under a bedroom floor, the wife noticed them going through a small hole in the porch below, so sprayed some fly spray in a and a few wasps fell out. Job done she though and told me about a week later.
I went looking and lifted a few floor boards and was amazed at the size of the thing in there. Sprayed it with a nest killer from B&Q, put a bin bag over it, and quickly ripped it out keeping a tight grip on the bag. I then sprayed a hell of a lot more killer on and then later dissected it showing the kids the little chambers and you could see grubs etc in there. Wife whilst initially moaning she had killed them conceded when she saw the nest that she should have told me as soon as she saw the wasps

Oh wow, the first thing I'd do is get that empty nest down and find a safe place for it. They are incredible structures. I'm not bothered by wasps at all, so I tend to let them carry on with their stuff and I carry on with mine. Can't do that now as Stretchie might be no more if he gets stung, but I've been lucky to watch a nest being built and it was fascinating. It amazes me how such incredibly delicate structures can support so many wasps without breaking or falling!

Got a nest (unseen) underneath the house for the last few weeks. Dozens of wasps in and out one of the small vents. Freaking her out big time. She wants me to get rid. None in the house yet. The only inconvenience is not being able to open the living room window. So they get left till they die off in October or so .......or they start getting into MY garage
![]() They get a few puffs of the Akra in the morn, just to let them know who is god round these parts. ![]() ![]() |

If the nest is zapped, will other wasps find it and rebuild it?

Napalm.
Remember being at a barbeque in my distant youth where a couple of other offspring discovered a wasp nest in the garden. They investigated it with a cricket bat. mmm |

I had a thread a while ago, they moved on of natural causes before I even had chance to burn anything!

No, they shouldn't do, unless the Queen survived and was able to lay more eggs. But the powder remains inside the nest and continues to zap them.
There was a nest in the front garden last year, I suppose they returned to the same location and found the loft was a better place to make their nest completely unhindered! Until I arrived ![]()

We had wasps rebuild in the same part of our loft for about 7 years in a row even though we completely removed and destroyed the nest. Some reason they haven't come back for the last few years, but then again I haven't seen that many wasps this year anyways...except at AR!
