Looks same as mine although mine didn't jump out, just worked loose over the course of a ride I think (couldn't notice a difference in noise but I wear plugs anyway).
Only other thing I can think of is have you been taking pillions recently? I have, wondering if that might cause the angle of the can to distort enough to cause it perhaps. |

very odd, i use black sealant to seal my cans from leaking, i suggest you put some just inside the bottom part of the link pipe that slides over the header and a bit all round the out side of header pipe where the link pipe slides on to then clamp it down, let it cure as long as you can, do the same for the top where the can meats the link pipe
ohh and loctite the clamp bolts, tighten the strap bolts and lock tight them as well. it then shoulden't be able to move as the sealant makes my cans hard to get on and off (the sealant i use in black drain pipe and dosnt come off unless you scrape it off) |

Cool - thanks for the advise. But nope, no pillions. I might take it off again at the weekend. I'm going to give it a service anyway. It really has wound me up... it's problem after problem with my bike!
If nothing after the weekend, I think it's a trip to the garage and ask them to diagnose (not fix). Although I think they will say it is worse than really is ![]() |

I've just had a brainfart. Did you have a removeable baffle in it that's no longer there? If you can't feel any leaks where it's blowing then I'm baffled.
Of course it could be blowing at the manifold end... |

Nope, nothing has been (re)moved/changed. Just tightened up. I'll check it tomorrow evening or something. But as far as I can tell, nothing has changed whatsoever

Hi again guys.
I just took the can off and things seem to be rattling around inside of it :-S. The loud noise is definitely coming from within the muffler so I do not think the exhaust coming loose was the issue. When I took the slip-on off, I could hear small bits distinctively rattle inside. When I looked at the pipe itself, there was exhaust material that had been cut... I guess this is where the original exhaust has been modified to fit the new one. Any suggestions now? ![]() Thanks all K |

I reckon the can needs repacking.
That means removing the rivets around the end band(s) and wrapping new packing material around the perforated inner tube of the exhaust and re-riveting the bands back on. Although that wouldn't account for the exhaust dropping. But I'm assuming that it's all tight now, and you've felt for exhaust gases escaping from the full length of the exhaust & not found any leaks |

![]() You're right with your assumptions. Everything is tight and no leaks whatsoever. |
