Not sure if Burners thread led to a video link of the incident? I actually saw the accident on Spanish news yesterday. The whole thing happened at night. The road appeared to be very poorly lit despite being in a relatively built up area.
It was sickening to see the car approaching from behind and literally launch one of the guys and the rider also.Terrible.

Seeing that really brings it all home. a car came flying up my rear a year back out of nowhere doin 80 in a 30 (he was out his face). first i knew was i heard screatching behind me. looked back to see him swerve. he went flying past and hit the kerb on the other side of the road and flew into the car infront of me. wrote them both off. seein that really makes me think what could have happend if he hadn't swerved.... bad Sh*t
Had the same thing on Sunday...traffic stopped in front of me, i was looking at a couple of girls walking down the road next to me, next thing I hear is about 4 seconds of screaming tyres..... knackered old cavalier slides to a halt behind me, about 4ft from my back wheel. He'd been checking out the girls too and hadn't seen me stop. I had a serious brown trouser moment......

While my heart goes out to the victum(s) and there family I think that riding a motorcycle without at least minimal protective clothing (i.e HELMET at least!!!) is extremely dangerous and would never attempt it as i value my life too much! Even when i have ridden abroad i have insisted on the shop supplying me with a decent helmet or i wont hire the bike! altho having said this! the w*nkers that drive cars (and of course other vehicles) so recklessly should face murder charges at the courts!!

Being rammed from the rear is more common than I ever thought.

Last year my 650S was written off by exactly this - in 30 zone in Stockton just as schools letting out. Stopped for lollipop crossing, covering rear brake. Just as the kids started over (luckily all on other side of road still) there was a massive bang and I went flying. An older guy hadn't seen me, the lollipop, the kids or the 5 cars on the other side of the road - traffic cop stated skid mark only started 4' behind my rear wheel!

Talking with an officer in hospital later he told me that it was quite a common sight, people get distracted or don't read the road any distance ahead every day in his area.
