They are probably just clamping down. Enough is enough and all that. Its not this boards activites down there that have caused this, but a mindless bunch of leather clad hooligans that have. Just dont really see the fuss. Move somewhere else until it dies down, then go back in the summer.

Think your right, it's a shame because some of us come quite a distance to have a chat and a drink!

Could we not claim its a meeting point for a religious Group or something, i mean we do all love Reverent Sqid preaching the Bike Gospels

That's a bit of a seeping statement Mr Vine...

Let's not forget, SV members (includung myself) have been guilty of the odd bit of fun in Frith St, nobody said anything about it then, we all thought is was a bit of a laugh. Now, I know that static burn outs and the odd rev of the engine are different to doughnuts and wheelies, but let's not pretend that we're all totally innocent. Agreed that there are a couple of *rseholes that have ruined it for the rest, but please don't paint everybody with the same brush just because they park on the other side of the road. The SV crew certainly enjoy making a bit of noise very once in a while too.

Well, then you only have yourselves to blame.

What you need is someone to do something so out landish that it will completely draw the attention away from the bikers and give them something else to whine about.

Maybe someone run naked thought the streets?

Or maybe we can get come chav car drivers down and get them to make us look like angels?

Perhaps someone who's been along fairly consitently on Friday nights, both as a biker and spectator, in the last year for the duration of the evening can give an opinion.....

I'm no innoccent here either - I have been known give my Rene the odd pop on Frith to clear the pedestrians, but that's all. I've never seen any of our people doing doughnuts. mega wheelies, slide bikes up to a halt etc. Although I once - and this was about 3 years a ago - once saw a minor static burnout performed by one of our number.

It's nowhere near the excessive, repetitive backfiring and high-risk stunts that I've witnessed performed by certain individuals on 'the other side'. And most SVers have left by then.

The statistics speak for themselves. Draw your own conclusions.

My 2p as an outsider - I have worked in soho for the past four years and have witnessed friday night on Frith Street pre and post bike licence although I have never attended.

I really don't see why the police/residents are getting so annoyed with this. Okay, you could argue that there is a noise issue, but aside from the bikes, what about the 10,000 odd pubbers/clubbers wandering about the streets at the same time!? Not only is there noise from them, but if you walk down Old Compton Street late friday/ early saturday then it is always covered in club flyers, broken glass, puke etc!

Even before I had a bike I enjoyed seeing the bikes meet on Frith Street and think that it would be a real shame if the meet disappeared.

Admitidly I haven't been a regular for the last 12 months or so but, I can remember seeing a number of different people lighting up the back wheel of an SV although thinking about it, it could well have been in the first couple of years of our regular meet.

And numbers do speak for themselves, after 11pm there's hardly an SV in sight while both sides of the road are full of sports and street bikes. So SV'ers would probably be out numbered 4:1 (if they were there).

The point I am trying to make is that nobody ever complained when SV'ers did it... And I can remember an instance when somebody filled the curry house with smoke after spinning up while the door was open (and it wasn't me!)
