Which reminds me - about the forks - just pumping them a bit at the dealership and comparing them to other bikes, I noticed that they seem very softly sprung on the SV. Yeah, the forks seem to dive easy. You can do all sorts but most fit new springs and heavier oil. mine seems fine with just heavier oil.

The forks work well enough for less than spirited riding. If you want to go out there and have some real fun, then I would suggest that you would find the front less than inspiring, in some instances less than capable.

Easy fix for this is as you have already stated. Springs and oil. Some prefer linear others progressive.

I have Maxton linear with 15 weight oil and the transformation is good. Much more stable and solid with weight changes and direction changes.

The front is more than capable after this mod.

I took out that kind of waranty on a washing machine once - the company then wriggled out of it. I claimed that they didn't send my paperwork through, they said they would have sent it if I had requested as they are obliged to do so. I have a letter that says they don't do duplicate paperwork. The sum is too small to bother with a small claim, my answer? I waste their time and money by dragging out the appeal and writing to the Ombudsman - in the long run it would have been cheaper to pay up - I have also learnt not to take out even these types of warranty and steer clear of Cardif Pinnacle (except when I swear at them daily on my way to and from work!)

I now feed the money that would have gone on the insurance or finance into an ISA and then take the money back whent eh item it replaced - the result is a shed load of interest!
