Dont forget the 2 screws up underneath the rear fender. As for moving the screws. make sure that you have a decent screw driver, or failing that, get a screw driver attachment for a Ratchet bar(socket set)

Once you have removed them with an impact driver, Throw them away and buy a couple of 6mm domed socket head stainless bolts to replace them. should cost all of about 50pence and make removal in the future far easier

Tap the screwdriver with a hammer, as you try and turn it. I had the same problem, they have been secured with thread lock to stop them vibrating loose.

What he said. A screwdriver with a metal capped handle that you can hit (lightly) with a hammer with might also help break the seal and loosen it. Do this each day and apply WD40 liberally. After a few days, you might find it comes undone. I had some (external) bolts on my bike seized and it took about 4 days of this to loosen them, on the 4th day, they came off suprisingly easily- although they had still been rock tight the previous day.
Another tip, although not something I've tried personally (I read it in my Haynes) is to use a little valve grinding paste on the screwdriver head to get a bit more grip on the screw. Hopefully someone here should be able to confirm if this is a good idea. |

Morning all.
One point worth mentioning is, make sure you use a number 3 Philips screwdriver on these screws. As the more common number 2 will round the head off for sure. Then as Timwilky suggested replace them with Allen screws and a decent sized washer. Cheers. |

When I was an apprentice(prehistory) we used a releasing oil called releasol or lusol, something like that. Used to always work. ACF-50 seems to work ok as a releasing oil too. |

Very good point and in my experience, ****e screws apart, using wrong sized tool for the job is what causes a lot of problems. I still do take a chance ![]() ![]() Ben |
