If theres a need in the South Wales/Bristol area, I'll help out. If we are going to do this we should all follow the same guidelines.

Mark, could I have a copy of the paperwork please?

I would be interested in a newbie ride out in the South East.

But this isn't the previous event is it....

Some people feel intimidated by group riding. All I was aiming to do was get a few of them together, introduce them to the marker system, and discuss more about what NOT to do.

The whole idea is to keep it as informal as possible. I don't want to be giving people handouts etc. If they want a re-cap or have questions they can ask at the time or drop me a PM. Simple as that.

It's about the experience, not training.....

Mark,
If you want to discuss the content further please PM me as to not distract from this thread.

I think this is a great idea. 120 miles might be a bit long depending on how far it is to travel to the ride start point though?

I'm not really interested in learning stuff about bikes (as part of the same event) but a gentle intro to riding in a group would be ideal for me.

I would agree, I am picking up most stuff about the bike as I go and the forum serves well for general questions (I am not saying I wouldn't be interested in learning about the bike etc in the future though).

I would be keen to do some sort of slowish ride where there are no speed pressures and I can get feel for the roads etc (yes I do always go at my own speed but sometimes it is nice not to be left in everyone elses dust!).

What I'll do, is drop a not to either a volunteer from the region, or to the group mod, that "x" number of people are interested in your area....

So that people are aware, this will be some time in September, I'm working in Paris most of next week and on my annual riding trip to the Alps the week after. I'll need some time to prep a route, based on where the riders are, and then find a suitable start location.

If there's enough people interested in the NW area then I'd defo be interested in going on a "new biker rideout" ... Perhaps this is something we can discuss/arrange at the next meet of the NW group? (directed at LuckyPants)

Is it anything like the one I did last year (or was it the year before?).

As that covered :-
Bike Prep,
Group Riding Etiquette,
the fundimentals of route planning,
tank lists & maps,
speeds and road conditions,
delivering a Rider briefing and it's content,
marker system,
modified marker system,
Rider behind in mirror method,
town riding,
practical application of the four types.

got all the paperwork (well saved docs), which includes lesson plan, introduction, disclaimer, Day program and hand out template, somewhere.

Cheers Mark.

Blimey, can't we just go for a ride with a bit of advice , before/during/after?!
