I'm in that boat at the moment. I have a General Plant Manager that asks me for ideas on certain elements of the job & then goes to the MD saying that he has a new Idea.
I dont want to blow my own trumpet, but have been in the Plant Hire industry nearly 30 years, he has been in it for 5 years, so he knows everything there is to know (or so he thinks) He worked on a farm before getting the job.
My drivers are earning nearly 20 grand a year (about 20 quid a week less than me) for delivering within a 10 mile radius of the shop in Transit vans & a 7.5 ton truck. If they have to go any further afield, they moan about why can't the customer go to another hire company closer to. They don't do anything else other than deliver, so stand around, or brush up when there is nothing to do. One of them doesn't even know his address & telephone number, he has to have it written on a piece of paper in his glasses case & the other one cant write (no I'm not joking).

They work 39 hours a week & get paid overtime if they do any hours over. I work 53 hours a week plus any other times as required for no extra.
My caring employer cut my wages by half while I was off ill & didn't tell me, so am now having trouble with cash (my fault I haven't got a contract).
I could go on & on, but won't. I'm looking at going back to stacking pallets in Morrisons Warehouse in Northwich, 45 hours a week, no hassle & about the same amount of money.

I too got shafted by my employer. Changed forces and was immediately shifted into a boring desk job which I never wanted in the first place. Was trying to get out but since accident im long term sick and looks like im stuck in there for a while.

Believe me I have strongly considered changing careers totally, but then wonder if the grass is greener out there. Im well paid and Im getting paid full pay whilst im off work. A lot of people in my situation would be stuffed right now. I could still be stuffed if I go back to work and Occupational Health say Im not fit to perform the role.

That's how the system works mate.

A good friend of mine pointed out I needed to box clever when the same was happening to me. A written email to my manager with his manager cc'd in explaining my idea. Or waiting until his manager was within ear shot before giving my manager my idea. It worked. I got promoted. My manager is now not my manager, he is my equal.

I am signed off at the moment because I was assaulted at work. It is rubbish, My confidence is low, I feel like a sponger and the people who assaulted me got off totally free. My advice, never bother to work in education.

Yep,hated my last job(well not the job but the boss & his missus)i was a sprayer for 8yrs.The boss was a scottish bloke who was the most ignorant,arrogant tight fisted,underhand barsteward you could ever possibly meet,as was his missus who new nothing about the business as a whole but liked to stick her nose in all the time.

Anyways one day i'd had enough,the previous year or so they,d been trying to make my life hell as there were only around 10 of us worked there and i was the only one who would speak their mind,this he took exception to as he was also a bully who only employed young lads who he could bully and manipulate.

So to cut a long story short i had told the other employee's that the only way to get to him was to hit him in the pocket...i did exactly this,i wound his missus up at work(as she was also my boss & part owner as well as being the one who pi**ed e off the most) and she ended up slapping me across the face..that waswhat i'd been waiting for as my better half is a soliciter and she new the avenues to take....£8000 in compensation which wuold have hit him in the pocket just like i said to do.....RESULT.

I now have a better paid job for a lot less work and my work colleagues are sound,you could say ......jobs a good un

Yes same here, hated my last job but went for one I didn't think I would get and now earn nearly three times more money than I did before . Best move I ever made...

Yup I felt the same in the last 2 jobs I had, company got taken over by the French and they had no idea. Jumped ship to the competitors who were worse and had less of an idea. Managers couldnt manage their way out of paper bag making my job twice as hard and stressful as it needed to be.

One job my Marketin Manager left, I took on the Managers role to keep the dept afloat, they advertised the job and gave it to a guy on the shopfloor who had no idea of marketing and asked me to train him

Left to join the Police .... don't ask me if it's any better !!! But I know I won't have to go through the redundancy route I had been down 10 times in 4 years.

Hope things get better for ya hun, if you get to the stage I got to all the people you work with you will want to kill. (altho as a copper I advise against that bit)

Quite funny that I am posting after the woozlebabe, as I was bitching to her about my work this afternoon on MSN

2 weeks ago it was announced my work was being bought out.

From what I can see they are a mostly Microsoft house, looking to heavily sell Microsoft products and become the #1 Microsoft Partner in the UK.

Which doesnt really fit in with my skill set.

Now there are whispers that the guy with the vision is being shortsighted from people that have the ability to effect change, but leaves me wondering whats going to be happening......
