I think the term "silencer" is something of a misnomer; the american term "muffler" is probably a more accurate description of the function of the exhaust. I like bikes with loud exhausts - I know they are there, I can move out of the way accordingly to let them through. Also, whilst my exhaust isnt much louder than stock (if at all) it certainly makes drivers aware of me when I blip the throttle riding (filtering) through traffic. Far less agressive than using my horn, thats for sure.

Lets all make up now

Yea, your right there kwak; when my dad got his loud can for his gixer600, it sounded too loud on the bike, and also seemed to make the whole bike resonate at about 5000rpm or so - this was very annoying to both my dad and me. So he fitted a baffle; enough to quieten it down a bit, but still fruity loud

I would like a slightly louder exhaust on my bike, but not race-loud for this reason. Maybe when the restrictors come out

Don't try to justify an offensively loud exhaust on safety grounds, you've only got them because you like the sound, go on admit it. guilty as charged

Use mini indicators if you like, just don't blame the person who knocks you off 'cos he didn't see the indicator. most mini indicators are brighter than standard IMO

Haven't really got an opinion on small number plates, you'll be pleased to hear good

Sorry, but loud cans DO make car drivers take notice. We've several times had car drivers take a second look at junctions because they have obviously heard us coming...................and if our loud can means we're not smashed to bits against the side of a car. it's done it's job.

Not denying we like the sound of it too, of course.

In fact, this sticker is placed conveniently above our can...............and it tends to make people smile!

yep love the sound of my can!! and damn sure it has saved me on many occasions when Ive blipped the throttle whilst filtering - obviously I dont rely on it in case drivers are deaf, or listening to loud music or on the phone but every little helps IMO

The ones I really don't understand are mini indicators. Indicators are there for ones own benefit, so that other road users can know what you are doing and avoid getting you into problems. People who have indicators which are so small, so dim or so close to the number plate (or all three) that you can't see them unless you are very close, must be completely insane.

It is a bit sad that some people are quite happy to damage the ears of the rest of the world because they want us all to know they have a bit of a problem with their brain. But hey, that's life.

I can uderstand that people want to have number plates that are impossible to read, so that they can get away with breaking the law without being identified. I wish the police would do their job and do something about them. If one of them kills me at some point, I would prefer to think they might be called to task for it.

But the indicator one though, I cannot see what benefit they think they get from them. Anyone got any idea?
I have mini led arrows which are very very bright and unbaffled can and a smaller but not silly small plate. It would be brilliant if i could ride past you as you ride through London every day just to p1ss u off. None of your buisness really as to what others do so learn to live with it before u do your heart some damage
