If he is half as good at being a president as he is at the big motivational speeches he will be a bloody good one. Everything he says is positive and patriotic. Keeps talking about change but never explores what kind of change he means or how he proposes to fix the world.
Still have an underlying doubt he can follow though on it though, reminds me of Blair in some ways, all the smiles and chat but no firm direction. |

This may get branded racist but to be honest, I don't care. I wonder how many of the black electorate voted for him because of his party or his policies and how many of them voted for him because he's black?

My impression (someone who doesnt follow polictics or current news to closely)
Obama is the most exciting thing for peace and stability around the world today. A statesman and someone the US people can aspire to be like and/or be proud of. I doubt he will let his people down like his predecessor did - who is probably set to go down as the worst leader in the history of the US! |

Needs to bear in mind that the US is not always in control of world events. If someone attacks US interests overseas, Americans will almost certainly insist on action. I'm sure that there will be no shortage of people testing Obama mettle in the coming months.

But Obama also had the majority of White voters too by 7% Edit: sorry I've not answered your question. I've no idea WHY 94% of the Black electorate voted for Obama. Last edited by Stu; 05-11-08 at 03:19 PM. |

He's only brown anyway, why does everyone say he is black?! his mum was white. Anyway, interesting about the percentage black voters choosing him. It's got to be race involved to at least a certain degree.
As for me, I am overjoyed he made it in! Black, brown or white, he is 100 times more intelligent and nice than McCain. |

Dickey, you are correct. More people voted this time because there was something new and fresh; not the same old grey-haired wealthy white man (no offense Mr. McCain). This was not a race thing; it was a NEW thing. FACTS: George W. Bush did not ruin the country; Obama cannot save it. The unconcionable and destructive partisanship in the Congress has eroded the trust and hope of Americans in their government and in the future of the political system. If Obama has done anything yet that he said he would do, it is that he has inspired the masses to get off their apathetic @sses and do something to change their lives. |
