ever wonder why so many stunt riders ride Buells? Dry sump. Doing wheelies can rob the engine of oil dude..
am I just saying that 'cos I can't do wheelies? yes and no, I just can't bring myself to do it on my motorbike even tho I can hoist a bmx front wheel all around the garden! I think its becauseI want to live you see...

I appreciate your concern. Problem is I probably won't learn until after I wreck. Everyone here does stunts. Problem is everyone else has R1's, Busa's, and GSXr's. Most people here don't even know what an SV is. I like it because it looks unique and a lot of people don't even know what i'm rolling on.

If you go back and read I said I put 4000 miles in four months on my bike. That was in the summer time. I bought my bike in June of 2004. In the summer I ride almost every day and all day on the weekends. I don't ride my motorycle in the snow like you guys. So if you go back and read I said since October I only put 400 miles on my bike. Go back and read the entire thread and you will see.

I like doing wheelies because it's fun and it gets people's attention. Am I pathetic because I want attention... maybe so.... Am I pathetic because I'm willing to hurt myself because I want to be like other people with better bikes... maybe so... Is it a shame I'm 25 and still think like this... Maybe...

But it's fun and I like it. I have to be reasonable. I bought this bike brand new and will be making payments for 5 years. Barring I don't wreck it I want to know what I can do to extend the life.

Click on my signature and find out how much it hurts. Just so's you know, I was lucky I survived. It's always easier to learn from other peoples mistakes. If your gonna do stunts, just make sure your wearing the appropriate gear. I see from TV and videos that a lot of American riders think its cool (or should that be "sick") to wear jeans t-shirt and trainers whilst stunting. Believe me when you come off it hurts LOTS.

I dont understand why everyone is gettin at you about wheelies.

Plenty of sv owners do em....and stoppies. Whats the big deal?

Its a given that if you do it in jeans and t-shirts your gonna hurt yourself but you seem big enough to know that.
Do it where its safe tho... i plan to go to wheelie school this year. Costs about £300 but i get to use someone elses bike, specally designed for the job.
That way i learn in relative safety and then if i wann do a wheeli o a rideout...on a clear empty road...its only me and my bike that are gonna go belly up and if i feel confident in taking that risk i will.

Isnt a huge part of [i]everyday]/i] biking about taking calculated risks? Constantly if you commute thru city's like i and many others do?

Learn safe, ride safe, play safe (hard with your mates about, but try).
And 3 times a month? i'd go mad if i dint ride it every other day.
I'm off work at the moment and i even miss the daily commute now cos i dont have a reason to ride anywhere when the weathers not so good.


Oh and its your bike... if you break a bit of it you can replace it right? just dont go breaking bits of yourself eh?

Enjoy your bike....enjoy the steep leariing curve... enjoy not crashing.

No disrespect, but seriously. You don't have crap for riding experience and will surely get hurt. Even worse, you could hurt another rider. Doing stunts is cool, granted, but keep that sh&t to the track where other folks won't risk getting hurt. You have no right doing that on the public street.

You're only 25 now (I'm just a few years ahead of you) but you really need to consider your hobbies. You're a pretty big guy, but I gurantee you...if you were to wreck and cause me to go down, I would beat you till there's almost no life left. I think most riders would do the same.

Man why all the threats? I'm not a violent person anyways. I'd rather run than fight any day. Anybody can knock out anybody bear fisted on a good day. Trust me you don' t have to threaten me to get your point across.

I only do wheelies in 1st gear. So I'm usually only going no more than 30mph when I wheelie. I always wear my helmet and my gear. When I get comfortable and capable I do the 2nd gear wheelies.

Oh mate i think you took me the wrong way. I'm not threatening you at all......just expressing the huge emotional turmoil that would well up in me if any inexperienced rider threw thier bike down the road and hurt someone i knew.Nothing personal at you in particular.
Wouldnt you wanna smak someone who clearly didnt know what they were doing and their bike flew down the road and hitt your mum or someone?

If you read back a few posts you'll see i was questioning why everyone was getting at you for doing weelies etc. read back...you'll see.

Practice where its safe is all i'm saying. Are there no big empty car parks near you that you can practice in at night? Someplace where its just you, a buddy (if u have a real bad off whos gonna help ya?)

Then when you are good enough you can be the judge of where and when its safe to do it. If you think its safe to do it outside a school when everyone is leaving... then youre and ass.
You seem much more sensible than that.
Do it where your judgment of your skills tells you is acceptably safe risk-wise.

Have you tried looking in the airbox for the oil that went missing?If you ride it around on the back wheel all day thats where it will go,usually followed by an expensive clattering from the engine and a long walk home.On the bright side though,they do lean over to the left or right very well and the engines run fine like that
