Can anyone recommend a good biki-to-bike radio set-up that doesn't cost the earth???
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm not bothered about names, just decent quality at a reasonable price. Cheers |

Honestly, the only way I have managed to get this working is with a couple of 5 watt Kenwood units and Autocom's. It's not cheap, but anything less just doesn't work over even fairly short distances, and can't be heard above 50mph.

Alan 411's £40-50 ish. Set them to vox.
Throat mic's (no wind noise), £5 each ish. Good for a couple of miles, depending on circumstances & weather. |

What's the receive audio like ? At that money I'd consider them for my set up.
(Throat mic's used to be really pants, but I haven't used one for a few years) . |

T'is clear enough for my uses.
If you can hold off on radio gear, I'll bring them to the AR so you can see for yourself. It does help having a neck warmer on with them though (not sure why yet, but still). |

Are there any radio's around that would allow the rider of each bike to talk at the same time?

Personally, I don't talk at the same time as someone else (face to face, on the phone, on the radio etc) because, 1) it's rude, 2) you can't keep track of the conversation. The way VOX works, when you talk, you send audio & you can't recv. No need to push a button. If you start talking and your mate wants to interrupt you, you won't hear him, but he also won't hear you (because his recv channel has dropped out). You can have as many radios on the same frequency as you like, all on VOX, but if you're talking, you can't hear anyone else. Why do you want to be able to talk over people? Note: In a 3way conversation on normal radios, person A talks, person B talks over person A, person C hears both (or should do on anything that's half decent). |

Don't necessarily wanna talk over anyone, just I use radios at work and I know it can sometimes be a pain in the a**e when 2 people speak at once as a whole chunks of the conversation can be missed.
Just fancied the idea of not missing anything for a change!!! |

We use the Alan radios for CBT Training. The clarity is really good, but the distance could be an issue. We tend to get a range of about 500 yards then the reception starts to break up.
The DSA assessor that comes to check up on us reckons that they are the best radios that he has heard, so praise indeed ![]() |
