It didn't originally get us lost , but I thought it would be good to have a trip to the local estate on the way to Supervox's place, to take in a bit of the local scenery you see (although the maps need to be updated snappy!)

Thanks again to Mr & Mrs Supervox for another great BBQ, and to the rest of you for a cool day out. Roll on summer!

Hmmm... I think this may have been my doing. Not my fault you understand, but my doing. As we were doing the 'keep an eye on the person in front' method of route-following, when we got left behind at the lights I caught up with someone who was still quite far in front. Turns out he was nothing to do with us, but by that time it was too late and I'd led us on a merry dance to, erm, somewhere.

Anyway, let's not get picky about the details.

Thanks to the Voxes for the top hospitality - and everyone else for the company. And to Mrs Vox's brother, Tim, for the very generous weld-while-u-wait services!

OK, you got me wondering, for those of us stuck in for the weekend ?

Cheers Mark.

Okay, brace yourself (no knee-pun intended) for the technical jargon I'm about to blind you with.

On Saturday, whilst on the bike in Brighton, I heard a rattling sound.

As you know, my approach to this sort of thing is la-la-la-fingers-in-ears-can't-hear-it-so-I'm-sure-it-will-go-away-soon. However, this particular rattle was quite loud and the cause easy to diagnose after a rather superficial visual check.

The bracket-thingy that helps hold the can in place - the 'tab' bit on the far-side of the bracket-thingy, which the special screw wotsit goes into, had sheared off where the metal bends. As a result my bike was experiencing a condition known as Flappycanbracket Syndrome.

With my customary, erm, laid-back approach to motorcycle maintenance, I wobbled the can a bit and decided that it wasn't in any immediate danger of snapping off and could be dealt with at a later point, once I'd sourced the necessary parts and found the time to do some spannering. (Watch out - incoming low-flying swine).

Anyhoo, not long after arriving at the Vox residence today, Mrs Vox's brother Tim spied my FCB Syndrome and offered to take it back to his house to weld it back. How could I refuse? And thus my bike was cured. I'm still missing the rubber trim thing (gasket?) as that fell off somewhere in Sussex I guess. And I don't know if it will be a permanent fix - but I'm certainly grateful for the help.

(One of the Mods may wish to move this post to the Tuning & Tweaking section, due to its highly technical nature?).

I'd like to thank Cazza and Rictus for providing my morning dose of healthy laughter. Thank you very much, it's always nice to start the day grinning like said low-flying swine.

For the rest of you lot: this thread is useless without pics!

sounds like you went to the same technical college as me then Caz
